Starting is the hardest part, as the saying goes.

And when something becomes a well known saying, you know it’s not just you. 🤣 Tons of people struggle to get started on a new project, goal or idea they have every. single. day. It can come with a mixed bag of emotions.

But why is getting started so darn difficult? 🤨 I mean you really want to do the thing, right? These are some of the things I’m hearing from other incredible biz owners:

—> Feel scared of doing something “wrong”
—> Worry about disappointing others
—> Fear of the unknown or what they don’t know
—> Not believing they’ll follow through
—> Afraid of failing or not having it turn out as they’d hoped
—> Wondering if it’s the “right” choice

Let’s dialogue shall we? 👇

💡 Know That It’s Totally OK

If one or more of those things have gone through your own mind, know that it’s totally OK and totally normal.

Again, struggling to get started is such a common thing it’s got its own adage (the literal definition of ‘adage’ being “An often stated observation regarding something from common experience.”) <— I like to read dictionaries sometimes LOL.

💡 Nothing Is Ever Really Wasted

I’m all about making the most of how you spend your time, but I’m also about taking quick and decisive action. When you make the choice to take steps and move forward with something, nothing is ever really wasted.

There’s no such thing as making a wrong choice because every single thing you do is part of your path, growth and evolution as a person and as a business owner. You’ll always gain something from the steps you take: you’ll learn something, discover new insight, see what works, find out what doesn’t work. <— this is all very valuable stuff!

💡 It’s All About Flexibility & Pivoting

Business (and life for that matter) are all about being flexible and pivoting anyway. Nothing is a static, straight or linear line from point A to point B (how boring would that be!)

Business is an evolution and nothing will disrupt its flow as long as you keep taking action and steps forward. You’ll naturally shift and adapt as you go.

💡 Action Will Give You Confidence (not the other way around)

It’s a common misconception to think we need to have our mindset all figured out first and be Miss Confidence before getting started on something. I can’t say where that idea comes from, but the reality is actually the opposite: as you get started, take action and move forward, your positive mindset and confidence will build. Check out 6 ideas to get started right here.

I speak from experience: I was terrified at the thought of doing Facebook lives back in the day. But I started anyway and did them over and over again, eventually realizing I didn’t even feel nervous about them anymore!

Just think of something that was new to you a few years ago – how did you feel about it then and how do you feel about it now? 👇
